join our team as a Principal Machining Manufacturing Engineer based
out of Sunnyvale, CA. You will support the manufacturing and
testing of marine propulsion and power generation systems, working
on various manufacturing processes for high-value gearing and steam
turbine assemblies, machined components, and welded
fabrications.What You'll Get to Do:
- Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing
processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an
excellent team of experienced assembly mechanics, machinists,
welders, and engineers.
- Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production
conditions.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce
cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the
manufacturing environment.
- Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations,
optimize production area layouts, manage bills of materials, and
create detailed work instructions, process procedures, and tooling
requirements with emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination,
and equipment/system maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation
of new capital equipment for establishing expanded production
processes.
- Select roles will also support final acceptance testing of
product and provide technical support to test facility operation as
necessary.
- The ability to support multiple production shifts is required
(first, second, third shifts, and weekends) based on the assignment
and current and future production schedules.Basic Qualifications
Principal Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant work experience;
master's degree with 3 years of relevant work experience; PhD with
1 year of relevant work experience. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of
relevant work experience may be considered.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Strong experience with machining and machine shops.
- Experience or specialization in mechanical assembly processes,
welding, and machining.
- Experience in technical writing.
- Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.PREFERRED:
- Hands-on experience machining and troubleshooting of
machines.
- Experience measuring and analyzing precision parts.
- Capable of programming CNC lathes, mills, and/or grinders.
- Experience with selecting and managing Capital Equipment
(CapEX) projects for machinery.Salary Range: $100,300 - $150,500The
above salary range represents a general guideline; however,
Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining
base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the
position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and
current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may
be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary
bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to
reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share
in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director
positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition,
