Software Engineer, Video Codec - Reality LabsReality Labs at Meta is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most, and push the future of computing platforms in a wearable form factor. We are developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware and software. As a Software Engineer, Video on the Reality Labs team at Meta, you can help build new, state-of-the-art hardware and software.Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and troubleshoot real-time communication.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand features, operation, and specify enhancements.
• Optimize and improve video.
• Debug and diagnose quality of end-to-end video experience on lossy networks in real-time communication scenarios.
• Define the video optimization roadmap for both current and future devices with new hardware encoders and decoders.
• Lead the definition and implementation of media processing framework and pipelines.
• Continuously improve the efficiency of the automated test tooling by leveraging the internal automated test infrastructure.Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience in industry settings OR PhD +2 years of experience.
• 3+ years of software development experience in image or video processing.
• Understanding of the multimedia stack or experience in media frameworks for video or audio playback.
• Experience in C/C++ multithreaded programming.Preferred Qualifications
• Masters Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in RTC/WebRTC or video with networking.
• Knowledge about video codec standards like H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC), VP9, AV1.
• Experience with configuring or modifying video encoders.
• Experience building FFmpeg filters or have worked with FFmpeg APIs.
• Experience designing power-efficient software for mobile.Compensation: $70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
