Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of
Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit
entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology
Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S.
government.Working at Natcast represents an opportunity to help

advance the integration of artificial intelligence into
semiconductor research and development, developing breakthrough
algorithms that accelerate innovation across the semiconductor
ecosystem.Every day you will push the boundaries of machine
learning applications, creating novel solutions for challenges in
semiconductor design, manufacturing, and testing while enhancing
America's technological capabilities.To thrive in this role you
must combine deep AI expertise with semiconductor domain knowledge,
demonstrating both theoretical understanding and practical
implementation skills while developing next-generation ML
solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch and Development
- Lead cutting-edge AI/ML research initiatives targeting
semiconductor industry challenges
- Develop novel machine learning algorithms specifically tailored
to semiconductor domain problems
- Create advanced predictive models for semiconductor design,
manufacturing, and testing processes
- Optimize machine learning frameworks for high-performance
computing environments
- Design and implement sophisticated data collection and analysis
strategiesTechnical Leadership
- Guide comprehensive model validation and verification
processes
- Develop robust methodologies for AI algorithm performance
assessment
- Manage and optimize complex computing resources and
computational infrastructure
- Author high-impact technical publications in peer-reviewed
journals and conferences
- Present research findings at national and international
technical symposia
- Mentor and develop research team capabilitiesInnovation and
Collaboration
- Drive strategic innovation programs within the semiconductor AI
research ecosystem
- Foster academic and industry partnerships to expand research
capabilities
- Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams including electrical
engineers, materials scientists, and software developers
- Identify and pursue promising research directions with
commercial and technological potentialRequired Skills and
QualificationsAcademic and Research Credentials
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine
Learning, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical
field
- Minimum 5 years of advanced machine learning research
experience
- Demonstrated track record of innovative research and
publications
- Strong publication history in top-tier conferences and
journalsTechnical Expertise
- Advanced Python programming skills
- Comprehensive mastery of deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow,
PyTorch)
- Extensive experience with large-scale dataset management and
analysis
- Advanced knowledge of cloud computing platforms and distributed
computing
- Proficiency in GPU optimization and high-performance computing
techniques
- Strong mathematical and statistical modeling
capabilitiesPreferred Additional Capabilities
- Prior semiconductor industry research or engineering
experience
- Established patent portfolio demonstrating technological
innovation
- Expertise in GPU and specialized hardware optimization
