Our client, an exciting AI-driven startup, is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the team in California. The successful candidate will help establish a strong foundation for success by designing and developing decentralized AI training pipelines, optimizing performance and costs, and researching training techniques for heterogeneous environments.Responsibilities

• As the Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, develop and optimize machine learning models for applications such as computer vision, NLP and audio/video processing.
• Gather, preprocess and curate high-quality datasets for training.
• Train deep learning models on various GPU configurations, including multi-GPU setups, and enhance efficiency with techniques like LoRA and QLoRA.
• Assess model performance, conduct experiments and implement improvements.
• Deploy models in production environments, ensuring scalability and reliability across cloud and bare-metal infrastructure.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate models into production systems.
• Monitor deployed models, manage retraining workflows and uphold performance standards.
• Optimize GPU training performance and analyze benchmarks to enhance infrastructure efficiency.
• Oversee MLOps processes, develop custom models and refine evaluation systems within the ML pipeline.Skillset
• PhD degree with a minimum of three years of experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer.
• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX.
• Hands-on experience in building, deploying and fine-tuning machine learning models and large language models.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Previous contributions to open-source projects is an advantage.
• Experience working in a startup environment is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills, effective communication and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.Benefits
